Description

Suburban Water Heater Thermostat Switch 525007

The Suburban 525007 Water Heater Thermostat Switch is an OEM replacement 12V temperature control switch used on many Suburban SW Series RV water heaters. The thermostat monitors tank temperature and helps control the water heater heating cycle.

The switch is preset to approximately 130°F and allows the water heater to begin another heating cycle as the tank temperature drops. Proper contact between the thermostat assembly and the water heater tank is important for accurate temperature sensing.

Suburban Part Number: 525007
Replaces / Supersedes: 232282 and 233534

Signs of a Bad Suburban Water Heater Thermostat

Common symptoms include:

  • Water heater does not begin a heating cycle

  • Burner shuts off too early

  • Water temperature is inconsistent

  • Water heater cycles incorrectly

  • No continuity through the thermostat when heat is required

  • Water does not reach normal operating temperature

Estimated Installation Time

10–20 minutes

  • Needle-nose pliers

  • Multimeter for troubleshooting

Potential Issues

Before replacing the thermostat, inspect the 12V power supply, wiring connections, thermostat mounting bracket, ECO/high-limit circuit, control board, igniter, and gas valve.

The thermostat must remain firmly against the water heater tank for accurate temperature sensing. A loose mounting bracket or poor contact with the tank can cause improper cycling even when the thermostat itself is functioning correctly.

Suburban 525007 replaces 232282 and 233534 and is designed for many Suburban SW Series RV water heaters.
