Suburban 070805 Electric Element Gasket – Fits Suburban Water Heater Elements

The Suburban 070805 Electric Element Gasket is the OEM replacement sealing gasket used between the electric heating element and the water heater tank on applicable Suburban RV water heaters.

This gasket creates the watertight seal around the screw-in electric element and should be replaced whenever the existing gasket is damaged, hardened, distorted, or no longer sealing properly.

Suburban part 070805 is the replacement gasket used with Suburban screw-in electric heating elements, including the commonly used Suburban 520900 120-volt heating element.

Common Reasons to Replace the Element Gasket

Replace the 070805 gasket if you notice:

• Water leaking around the heating element

• Leakage after replacing or servicing the electric element

• Mineral buildup around the element mounting area

Because the gasket is compressed when the heating element is installed, replacing it whenever the element is removed is good preventative practice.

Before servicing the electric element:

1. Disconnect all 120-volt AC power to the water heater.

2. Turn off the water heater and allow the tank to cool.

3. Relieve water-system pressure.

4. Drain the water heater tank before removing the element.

5. Remove the existing heating element and old gasket.

6. Clean the sealing surface before installing the new gasket.

7. Reinstall the heating element and check carefully for leaks after refilling the tank.

Never energize the electric heating element unless the water heater tank is completely full of water. Operating the element dry can destroy it almost immediately.

Important Fitment Note

The Suburban 070805 seals the electric heating element itself. It should not be confused with the separate element cover gasket, which seals the exterior access cover over the electric element compartment.
