Dometic Atwood 92097 RV Water Heater AC Heating Element – 1400 Watt
The Dometic Atwood 92097 Water Heater Element is an OEM replacement electric heating element for select Dometic and Atwood gas/electric RV water heaters. The screw-in element uses 120-volt AC power to heat the water inside the tank, allowing the water heater to operate on shore power or generator power without using propane.
The 92097 is rated at 1,400 watts and includes the sealing gasket required at the tank connection. A failed element commonly causes the water heater to stop heating electrically while continuing to work normally on propane.
Heating elements are frequently damaged when the electric mode is turned on before the water-heater tank has been completely filled. Without water surrounding the element, it can overheat and fail within seconds.

Signs You May Need This Part
- The water heater works on propane but not on electricity

A lack of electric heat may also be caused by a tripped breaker, failed relay, defective thermostat or ECO, damaged wiring, a faulty switch or loss of 120-volt power. Confirm that power is reaching the element before replacing it.

The water-heater tank must be drained before removing the element. Installation time may vary depending on water-heater accessibility, mineral buildup, corrosion and the condition of the element threads.
After installation, completely refill the tank and confirm steady water flow from a hot-water faucet before turning electric mode back on.
