Description

Girard 2GWH-29 Water Heater Heat Exchanger

The Girard 2GWH-29 Water Heater Heat Exchanger is a replacement heat exchanger designed for the Girard GSWH-2 tankless RV water heater. The heat exchanger transfers heat from the burner to the water flowing through the water heater, allowing the unit to produce a steady supply of hot water.

A cracked, leaking, restricted or damaged heat exchanger can cause water leaks, reduced heating performance and inconsistent hot-water temperatures. Heat exchanger damage is commonly caused by freezing temperatures, improper winterization, mineral buildup, overheating or long-term wear.

This is a model-specific replacement part and should only be installed in compatible Girard water heaters.

Models It Fits

Girard part number: 2GWH-29

Verify the water heater model number before ordering.

Signs You May Need This Part

  • Water leaking from inside the water heater

  • Visible cracks or splits in the copper tubing

  • Water dripping near the burner or heat exchanger

  • Hot water that does not reach the selected temperature

  • Inconsistent or fluctuating water temperatures

  • Reduced hot-water flow

  • Burner operating without properly heating the water

  • Freeze damage after the RV was exposed to cold temperatures

  • Mineral buildup or restriction inside the heat exchanger

  • Corrosion or physical damage to the tubing

A water leak inside the heater does not always mean the heat exchanger has failed. Check the water fittings, valves, seals and plumbing connections before replacing the heat exchanger.

Estimated Installation Time

Approximately 1.5 to 3 hours.

Installation time may vary depending on technician experience, water-heater accessibility, plumbing condition and whether the complete water heater must be removed from the RV.
