Dometic 92099 6-Gallon Electronic-Control Water Heater Tank Service Kit

The Dometic 92099 Service Kit is an OEM replacement tank assembly for select six-gallon Dometic electronic-control RV water heaters. It allows the damaged water tank and several related components to be replaced while retaining the water heater’s existing burner, control board, wiring, housing and other reusable parts.

The kit includes the aluminum six-gallon tank, foam insulation, pressure relief valve, electric heating element and foam seals. Because the tank is constructed from aluminum, it does not use a replaceable anode rod.

This kit is intended for gas-and-electric Dometic water heaters. The similar Dometic 92098 tank kit is used with the propane-only WH-6GA.

The three component-mounting holes in the replacement tank are not pre-threaded. They are sized so the original mounting screws form their own threads in the aluminum during installation.

• Water is leaking directly from the tank body
• The tank has split after exposure to freezing temperatures
• Pinhole leaks or cracks are visible in the aluminum
• Water collects inside the water-heater housing
• The tank fittings are damaged beyond repair
• The heating-element opening is stripped or severely corroded
• The tank is distorted or physically damaged
• Previous repairs or sealants no longer stop the leak
• The pressure relief valve and heating element also require replacement
• The exterior housing and major control components remain reusable

Before replacing the tank, confirm the source of the leak. Water around the heater may also come from the pressure relief valve, drain cap, heating-element gasket, plumbing fittings or bypass connections.

Estimated Installation Time

Approximately 2 to 4 hours.

Installation time may vary depending on water-heater accessibility, plumbing condition, corrosion and how easily the complete heater can be removed from the RV. Replacing the tank generally requires disconnecting the water, propane and electrical connections, removing the water heater, transferring reusable components and reinstalling the assembled unit.
